Summary
Troy wins promotion to Inspector, but before he can decide on his future, a local canal tunnel collapses while undergoing restoration, revealing ancient human bones with a recent skeleton hidden among them. As Barnaby investigates this suspicious death, Troy is sent to the woods near Midsomer Worthy where a wild man, called Tom, has been attacked by a group of youths. Then one of the teenagers is caught in a mantrap and shot dead. Immediate suspicions fall on Tom
